About Daniel Anderson Reflexology

Reflexology is based on the discovery that there are points on the feet, hands and ears which correspond to organs, systems and structures within the body. This relationship is called a reflex, which is when stimulation at one point brings about response in another area. As a reflexologist I use special pressure techniques to stimulate the points on your feet, called reflexes to help restore you to balance and well-being.

There is evidence that reflexology dates back to Ancient Egypt, India and China, but it wasn't until 1913 that Dr William Fitzgerald introduced his therapy to the West as "zone therapy". He discovered that reflex areas on the hands and feet were linked to other areas and organs of the body within the same zone.

In the 1930s Eunice Ingham further developed this zone therapy into what we now know as reflexology. She observed that tension or congestion in any part of the foot is mirrored in the corresponding part of the body.

Doreen Bayley was trained by Eunice Ingham in America and was responsible for bringing the therapy to Great Britain in 1966.
